Samsung SII LTE not loading, just starting

Hi, I'm not a techie by any means so I hope this will make sense to someone.

My Samsung SII LTE phone this morning was fully charged. When I took it out of my purse when I got to work this morning I noticed it was vibrating. It shut off, then goes to the "Samsung" Screen to the Galaxy SII LTE screen and back and forth without fully booting. I have pulled the battery multiple times for various time periods with no luck. Same result each time I try to reboot.

any suggestions? Will I be able to back up my data? I use gmail and picasa to back up my contacts, email and photos so I am not too worried but it is very very frustrating!!!

Wiping the cache partition will likely fix the issue.
Which model do you have? Some have a physical home button and other didn't, so depending on which one you do have, the button combo will be different.

I can't even get it to make it to the home screen, just keeps bouncing between "samsung" screen and "Galaxy" screens at start up.

You don't need it to boot up to use recovery mode.
Hold home + volume up + power until you see small blue letters on the right side of the screen.
Then use the volume buttons to navigate the recovery screen and wipe the cache. Use the power button to select the options.
