Samsung simply does not care...

I completely agree with everything you say from your standpoint, and I agree that Flash is a huge deal to a lot of people. But on that last part there, I have to say, of the 95% of the people who don't know rooting exists, I'd be willing to be at least 85% of them don't care to, notice, or even know the differences between Eclair and Froyo. And most of them don't even know what Froyo is.

And Sammy's case is made:cool:

I think it might be a little higher than that. My daughter was constantly getting memory notices on her Ally and kept asking about the "update that would let her put apps on her memory card" And I'm sure there are quite a few Samsung customers who go to a site with an embedded video or animation and wonder why they can't see it.

I guess I'll agree with your 85%, but I would say that MOST of them have a need for it, they just don't know that Samsung is sticking it to them when the solution is out there.

If you bought a Samsung 42" top of the line TV only to get it home and find out that it didn't play sports content, but that was "coming soon" and 6 months later you still didn't have it, would you marvel at how nice Lifetime for Women looked?

Love this quote, good analogy. Thanks for my new signature too :)

True. I'll offer a counter point though. If I knew Samsung had a horrible track record updating their TVs in the past, and that sports content was that important to me, I probably would not buy their 42 " TV ...

That said, not having 2.2 by now is still beyond ridiculous at this point ..

My wifes Fascinate is a pile of ****. I am disappointed in Samsung.

if you are not rooted i can see why you would say that. stock is a big let down. rooting allows you to fix some of the sort comming of the phone. this is a cas where the hard ware is far ahead of the software.

as this has been said many times before, it's not just about flash. many new apps and app updates are coming out that are only compatible with 2.2. if my fascinate can fully run these apps, then I probably wouldn't care for 2.2, but since it can't, I want 2.2 for my phone.

I would be more than disappointed -- I'd be outraged. So how to you deal with that? I mean, the smell, the mushy filth that must be left on her fingers and face, the brown streaks left on the night stand; yuck. What did she get for a case? A poop bag would be a good and cheap solution, that's one good thing about having a pile of **** for a phone.

Thanks for bringing that up. I try to say that every time people accuse us of whining for 2.2. It's not about just getting Flash. Developers like to use the latest/greatest tools. I don't want to maintain old code because some users are on an older OS. I abandoned 1.6 long ago. Anything new I write is 2.2+.

Not to mention all the internals, stuff we don't see, that is fixed in updates. They are not just adding features like Flash, App2SD, faster Javascript engine, etc, there are many other changes we don't see that helps the OS run better.

A couple of weeks ago when our TVs were taken up with Xbox, On Demand movies and Wii, My son was watching the NFL Playoffs on his EVO. SWEET! I go to the site and nothing happens. Hmm... Flash! What good is this beautiful screen if I can't watch what I want?

Get the NFL Mobile app from the market for that. I understand your point. But you're not held captive as much as you might think. I too cannot wait for flash, as it's the only feature I feel my phone is lacking. App2SD? My card is already full of media and my internal memory is not even close to full. The full web browsing experience is what I'm looking for.

my internal memory isnt close to full either. of course that could be because i flash something new every day, but also too many apps means to much lag. i try out all kinds of stuff, if i dont like it i get rid of it. the feature i want is for my $40 car dock to freakin work. its ok in my car because my stereo has bluetooth, but in my wifes we arer stuck listening to her crap pod.

I can't even fathom the idea of filling the internal. Apps are tiny. I have everything I could even think of wanting, and a lot of stuff I never really use, but have because it's cool, and it's all under 250MB of the 1.5GB we have for programs.

What I want to know is if 2.2 will allow me to do a fantasy baseball draft on my phone? Anyone know this, or is it still uncharted territory at this point?

The yahoo method, which I guess is java? Do you think it would work? I know that a separate window pops up on my laptop. I don't know if apps work for such things, but there isn't an app for yahoo fantasy baseball yet...

just curious is all, i was reading last night about folks trying to draft fantasy football teams over the summer and not being able to do it. They all were on 2.1 though.
