Will Samsung Smart Switch work on Note 7? I had a NOTE 7 about a week ago and prematurely made the poor decision to return it and get a note 5. Long story short I'm returning note 5 and getting note 7. Again. When I had the first one it said note 7 didn't support the Samsung Smart Switch.

I would suggest not using smart switch. Most of us that are having success with battery and no lag have not used it and set up our phones from scratch. Theres speculation that smart switch is causing issues.

I used smart switch to move over 33 gigs from my note 5.... I used the wifi direct way..... Haven't had a issue yet

Tyler so it sounds like it work for your phone when I got the first one that said my phone was not compatible with that program which is really odd maybe now the app is updated and there won't be an issue I'll find that out tonight if I decide to use Smart Switch

My first note I used it and wasnt overly impressed with battery life (and a few other things Im trying to ignore) but on my 2nd note I did a clean setup and Im extremely happy with the battery and have yet to have any stuttering. In the lag thread and battery thread you'll find alot of speculation about restoring the device and whether its caused issues. Obviously thats not the case for everyone who did it but for me it wasnt worth my time to find out.

I used Smart Switch from my V10 to the Note 7. I didn't experience any lag issues but I was getting random high battery drain from Android System. I took the plunge and factory reset, something I had not done in years, and now things seem a little better. However, Android system reared its ugly head this morning but I was able to catch it pretty quick and had time to investigate and figure out that 'beaming service ' was running crazy. Disabled that and rebooted and things are back to normal.

However, now I wonder if the FDR was just a waste of my time as smart switch didn't really cause any issues.

I used smart switch, no problems. Obviously if you have an issue then try a fresh install, but it does not hurt to try smart switch first

I used smart switch from iOS to the Note 7 and am having no issues with battery or data. I migrated about 10gbs over from my iphone.

Definitely supported and I used it (AFTER I did a hard factory reset BEFORE setting up my phone). I didn't let anything auto install from Sammy or Google. Once I was ready I used smart switch to only transfer things that weren't apps. I didn't let Google or Sammy preinstall or transfer any apps. Worked really well.

I would not use Smart Switch. We have seen too many issues using it and I have experienced issues also.

I would set it up as a new device.

Ok so you transferred things like text messages and documents you had downloaded. App wise you just did those manually from your app list in Google play

I used Smart Switch tethering a cable from my Note 5 to Note 7 and don't have any issues. My boss used Smart Switch from his S6 to the Note 7 wirelessly without any issues. Like mentioned before, some users who had battery problems and lag issues did a full reset and added things back manually and no longer had issues and think Smart Switch may have been the culprit. I'd go ahead and try Smart Switch, if you notice any issues then I would do a factory reset and then manually set it up. Be sure to forwards notes and what not that you can't back up within the app to your email address before hand, that way if you do have to manually set everything up it's a matter of copy and paste... still a bit of a pain but at least you still have all the info.

Just my experience.. I didn't end up with lag using Smart Switch on my Note 5.. I ended up with the media sever bug which is near impossible to get rid of.

I'm now waiting on a warranty exchange for my Note 5.

And the media server is connected to media on my phone, not settings. Media that was transferred with Smart Switch.

From the carrier or Samsung? Check your PM.

The Note 5 is coming from the carrier. I was going to send it back to Samsung when my Note 7 got here, but it really crashed bad on Sunday. I almost didn't get it back up. It is running very crippled right now.

Answered your pm.

When I set up the phone I set it up as new then I plugged in my phone to my computer and used my smart switch backup. I haven't experienced any of the lag people are complaining about after using smart switch(I'm not saying it isnt happening though).
