Is anyone else annoyed after paying $1,399.00 for a phone Samsung is so pathetic they first put advertising in the middle of the stock weather app but with new update it's right at the top as well as the middle and bottom. That was bad enough but the update to the stock music app now has advertising right at the top of the tracks. I paid for all the music as well as the phone feel they just went to far.

Hi,
Haven't paid attention , I use different apps and weather , maybe try different 3rd party apps .

On the Note 8, Samsung would constantly push ads on you in their Samsung Store app. Nowhere at all in settings to disable them. And sometimes when you opened their app and a pop up ad appeared, sometimes it came with music that would be obnoxiously loud.

That's where I learned about Adguard. Got a lifetime license for two android devices and 1 PC for like $25 and worth every penny. Besides blocking Ads on websites, it blocks ads in apps. Was 100% but once in a while they can still get one by when I open the Samsung Store app. But at least it's not the annoying ones with music. Otherwise I never see an ad anywhere else.

Adguard for iOS I have on my iPad Pro unfortunately only block ads in Safari and not apps. But Apple doesn't annoy the hell out of you with ads.

Yeah, you pay however much for a S or Note or any of their phones for that matter, you shouldn't be harrased with ads AT ALL. At lease be able to disable it.

Hope Adguard works on those apps when if I go with the Note 20.

I was definitely disappointed to see ads in the update for Samsung music. The propietary apps should definitely be ad free.

Had to add to my previous post... Adguard Content Blocker that is available on the Google Play Store is NOT the same as Adguard for Android that this same company offers on their website. Adguard Content Blocker only blocks ads on browsers while Adguard for Android also blocks ads in apps. Adguard for Android has to be sideloaded. Not sure if the free version is a full version but curious if this will block ads being discussed on the S20. I guess I'll find out in a couple of months hopefully and I'll update if anyone else hasn't lol.

I'll only be annoyed if I use any of the Samsung apps

Never liked them or prefer them in the first place so not an issue for me but agree it sucks if they are including crappy ads all over your face in the apps.

I feel the OP. Before I got my first smartphone I was using a feature phone by Verizon and opted to get their VZ Navigator. It was a great app, I would dare say it was better than Google Maps. Good features and directions and you paid a subscription for it, but it was worth it. Then just before I crossed over they started putting ads in it. A monthly subscription and then ads on top of it, for real? We all expect ads for free apps but when you pay for something it kind of feels like you should be opted out of them. Honestly I don't use many Samsung apps. I have noticed Samsung Pay has ads. I expect the Galaxy Store to have ads, no different than Google's Play Store, maybe not as in your face but it's a store after all. I haven't looked into it yet but I'm about to turn off notifications for Samsung Weather. I keep getting little pop-ups that I just swipe away, so I don't actually know if they are ads or contain them or what. Unfortunately I think we're headed towards a Futurama future where they're going to be advertising to us in our dreams once they figure out how.

Forget Bout stock apps.. It's worse than that.. Android now comes with Samsung ads disguised as "push services".

..Paid so much for a phone, only to have ads being pushed out without wanting them right. Wtf is that. Sure you can turn off notifications but the app still runs in the background using your data and memory (high frequency). You can only clear cache not all the data either. Plus you can't disable it. Wtf? Didn't Google or Amazon have something like that.. Ads on your phone for a reduced phone price? I sure didn't get a discount on my phone!.. Surprised no one cares or AC never mentioned this "virus like app"... Samsung Push Services!

It's never a issue for people here till it happens to them. I posted about this awhile back.

Is Samsung going to really do this... Ads?

It's happening elsewhere as well. Co worker the other day said he had a rando Basken Robbins ad on his iPhone.
