I guess things are really rolling now!

Got the same email about 2:00 p.m. today. Need to return my device by 3/7. I originally placed my order on February 10. Samsung website says expected delivery is 2/23. Fedex app says 2/22 for delivery.

Received my trade-in email today as well. Printed up the shipping label a bit ago.

Make sure to exit out of all of your accounts on your phone and factory reset your phone (after you have transfered over the data to your new phone) before packaging it up and sending it back to Samsung.

My husband received his return info email also. Samsung emails usually end up in our spam folders, this time it actually hit the inbox.
:)

Any mention of chargers?

The email did mention if you were trading in a laptop, you had to send the device, battery, power supply & cable. Nothing about phones or tablets.

There might be more instructions with label page, but I'll have to wait till he is done using his phone to see....

is exiting out of all the accounts really necessary if we're factory resetting the phone?

you'd think that by factory resetting, there's nothing left on the phone's memory that is not what the phone had previously when they shipped it out from the factory, right?

thanks katrina.

this video instruction doesn't say anything about signing out of all accounts.

Well, you MUST sign out from Google and Samsung accounts. Consider to manually remove all other accounts just for privacy reasons.

2:04 "In order to do so, it is important and necessary that you 1st sign out of the personal accounts on your device, such as Google, Samsung, and iCloud, to disable activation locks and factory reset protections."

Factory restoring signs you out on that device anyways.

It's a be all end all kind of thing. (For general purposes)

Nothing else on the return instructions slip mentioned sending back the chargers. Just the comment about returning laptops in the email itself.

He's trading in his s10+ phone & his Tab s3 tablet. He's not returning the chargers, just the spen for his Tab s3.

Unless someone posts with proof stating we need to.

Yeah Factory Reset should be done through settings to properly remove all your accounts, Factory Reset in recovery will still leave FRP activated.

If you want log out of all your accounts first its fine but wasted step as Factory Reset in settings already does this .

Trade in email

I still have not got a trade in email from samsung. Anyone else not get the email yet?

I did not know the two resets act differently.

Ive always done it in recovery. Good to know the next time I need to FR to send back.

Yeah the 2 are different , always do it in settings, the reason is if someone stole your phone and factory reset in recovery they wouldn't get into the phone or take any data because after the start up screen it will ask previously used Gmail account
