Samsung TV "mode not supported"

First of all, I'd like to mention that Best Buy has an amazing deal right now... You get $20 Google Play credit with CC purchase.
But I'm having an issue making it work on my parent's Samsung TV (I have 2 at my house so I'm sure it's not me). Basically when I switch to CC source, all I see is a blue screen with "Mode not supported" message. I haven't tried much troubleshooting because I didn't have time today but I thought I'd ask maybe someone already seen this.

Have you tried a different HDMI input? I've installed CC on 3 totally different TV sets (one a year old smart TV, one a couple of years old dumb TV and one about 1st generation HDMI - and all I got on any of them was that the CC had to download an update, then it had to be set up (which you can do with the Chromecast app on many phones).

No, I haven't tried a different input... I'll try that next weekend. So are you saying I can force the update through the phone app? I didn't think of looking at the app on my phone.
I will also bring my CC and try that one just in case
