From wikipedia:

"A confidence trick (synonyms include confidence scheme, scam and stratagem) is an attempt to defraud a person or group after first gaining their confidence, in the classical sense of trust. A confidence artist (or con artist) is an individual, operating alone or in concert with others, who exploits characteristics of the human psyche such as dishonesty, honesty, vanity, compassion, credulity, irresponsibility, naïveté, or greed."

On this day, this is precisely what this post is about.
This is a scam, and StoneBoyTony is a con man.
All of the information on the post is there to build confidence.
The technical language, the colorful pictures, the thanking notes indicating that people succeeded with the method before.
Classic confidence scam.

I don't even doubt that people did actually get their phones rooted with files provided in this post before.
But if the information was legitimate once, it is not so now. With the ability to edit the post, the guy now has truthful evaluations supporting his false, deceitful scheme.
If this guy was once an accomplished programmer/hacker, he traded his suit for one of a con artist long ago.

Don't believe me? Go ahead, try the links on his blog. I dare you to be able to download the files.

This is a scam.
The files are unreachable on the linked blog.

This is post number 2.

I will be spending some time cleaning my computer after trying to download this from the scammer's blog.
That I will do later. Now, I am posting to report this so other people don't need to go through the same grief.

I wonder who will get banned from this forum by this situation.
Is it going to be me, a user that just registered today and instead got scammed?
Or Stoneboy Tony, who is clearly scamming for clicks and not delivering what he claims?
Then posts are needed in order to report.

I think it is actually quite sad.
After spending the last 2 days trying to get my phone back in order, I could not find a proper root method for my phone.
Instead, what I got was a computer filled with bloatware/malware.
I was lucky I was alert at the time, or I would have also ended up with a 5 dollar weekly charge on my phone bill.
My theory is that once this guy had it, and he actually managed to help a lot of people.
Did he lose it?
Quite the fall from glory.

It's actually funny if you think about it.
Looking over the post, and his blog, and the pdf he so generously provided with all the technical information, you'd think that he was genuinely trying to help.
I'm sure that it was a lot of trouble, with the print-screens and the images of different models that he edited with his blog's address over.
I consider myself a smart guy, but I admit that he really had me going there.

To be honest, I can see how the guy would be driven to do this in order to get something back for his trouble.
The internet can be a very ungrateful place indeed, with people mirroring your links and taking advantage of your work without a single 'thanks' in reply.
It is a jungle, yes, and one needs to adapt if one intends to survive.
And I can vouch for it - when you are the only one with the answer, you might as well charge by the question.
My point is that I would not mind at all paying for the solution I need. It all amounts to money, I am pretty sure that this is the bottom of it.
But instead I was scammed, and that I can not abide.

I mean come on, is it possible that this guy is the only one in the whole internet who can root a samsung phone?
So that means that no one is getting their samsung phones rooted anymore, since the files are inaccessible?
I have a hard time believing this, truly.
Still, it is no good. I already see 2 other forums where I'll need to do the same reporting.
I am worried to be called a bully for this, but that's that.

At this point it feels like I am just talking to myself.
But I am hopeful I will get a positive reply.
It could also go very wrong - like complaining to a grumpy restaurant waitress about the quality of the food.
I remember when the internet could be very efficient at self-regulating and clearing out the bad weeds.
We will see.

Ok, let's get it over with.
Ten posts were needed, this is number 10.
I'll report it and see where it leads.

It was suspicious for me to go and download the file but i did it and I got what I was looking for. My phone is now rooted and I give full credit to StoneBoyTony on his blog and read carefully what he said in the end of the tutorial. As for the above post "therage" your accusations a really silly and what I do believe is that either you are one of the copycat persons that clone his web site and want to push him out of the light or might be a victim to one of the clone web sites and came here to discredit him!
