So as usual when I buy a new Samsung mobile device I install items that I have already paid for from the Samsung store app. Today however its telling me the attached. It says I've downloaded it too many times and now I must pay again. This firm is starting to disgust me in all honesty. It's all the small things that add up.

How many downloads are maximum allowed? If unique to your profile , I don’t see why downloads matter or do app get major OS updates?

That is complete BS if it is limiting you on how many times you download an app you've paid for. If you've paid for it, it should remain as your intellectual property. What apps specifically are we speaking of? I have yet to encounter this issue.

When you purchase an app it certainly does not become your intellectual property. Intellectual property is a work or invention to which one has rights and for which one may apply for a patent, copyright, trademark, etc.

I'm also curious if this is app specific or not, I've never heard of an app store limiting downloads or installations. It used to be a problem for PC but I've never experienced it with anything Android.

You're right, I clearly had a misconception about intellectual property but it's still asinine to me that a limitation on would be imposed for downloads on a purchased app.

I'm very curious what app it is as well. I've had several Android devices since 2013 (14 different devices) and have never encountered this issue. However, I don't generally purchase apps from the Galaxy Store.

That is total BS. They certainly want you to upgrade your phone every year and then they pull that nonsense.

That's so odd and also robbery! Once you buy something it should remain as your own on your devices, as you pay to use it - regardless of which new Android phone you get. Crazy!

I never knew you can have a limitation on a paid app with downloading

These sort of licencing agreements are not uncommon. It's mostly used in enterprise solutions, where they charge based on the number of computers that'll use it. I've also seen this on Android as well before with my audible subscription. I'm only allowed to install it on up to 3 devices. When I upgrade, I have to remove my one of my prior devices to add my new one to the account.

I think that should be stated little more clearly, just like the VPN I have I can install it on I believe 8 device but I knew that at moment of purchase.

But in those cases if you uninstall it on one device you can reinstall on another. The OP has a total installation limit and that stinks. Phones often need resetting and restoring or changing and apps need to be installed countless times.

It is like when I bought camscanner pro key then they disabled the key and forced me to buy a subscription. I ditched the app and bought MD scan instead.

I bought nova prime in 2013 and I can still use the same key now all these years later. This is how it should be.

OP hasn't said what app the pop-up refers to. If it's a 3rd-party app, Samsung might not be responsible for the policy.

It is the Helvetica font in the lower half of the image.

Have you looked into the terms agreement with those apps or people/company that developed them? It's possible that they mentioned it. I don't agree if it's not in there.

Have you tried to see how many devices are linked to your account? It seems wrong to charge even if you've downloaded a hundred times. It would make more sense to limit the number of devices you are able to download something too.

Not as familiar with Sammy but I know I often have old devices still linked to my Google account and I can't remember what comes up every few phones or factory resets that says I need to reduce the number of devices to add this one. Then it takes me to devices linked to my account and she enough they're either old ones or my current device two or three times. Not sure if the same thing happens with a Samsung account...?

Hmm, you bring up a valid point. Spotify follows this sort of policy too, yes?

Have you tried removing the old devices from your Samsung account? Just like Google Music and other services, you can only have a certain amount of devices authorized at any given time. If you remove some of your older devices, which you likely never did, you might be able to avoid the issue.

Yeah, that one of the good things on trade ins, you have to sign out of old devices ;)

Can't truly be upset that an app originally purchased in 2016 is asking for payment again on a new device especially if the app doesn't come with ads(don't know anything about the app), but developers deserve some compensation for keeping the app going after being on the market for years. Luckily they aren't charging an annual fee like some choose to do.
