Samsung - why such a slow blink notification?

Hello all, I'm still trying to understand why after all these years the Samsung phones all have a slow blink to indicate notifications? I rely on the notification LED a lot, but why does it have to blink so slow? Sometimes when looking at my phone from a distance I have to look at it for the full five second interval before I know if I have a notification. Any idea? Are there apps that can fix this and perhaps add colors to the mix? Thanks everyone!
