Samsung you're in serious trouble if you think people will pay $1000 for a phone

I'll be on the pre-order for the Note 8. With the freebies being offered at launch and just being able to add it onto my bill, it makes it easily affordable for myself and many others doing it this way. Paying outright is where more people are going to have a tough time in my opinion.

This is why it doesn't bother me so much, I'm already paying for one so I'm just jumping to the Note 8 but I'm not going am out on expensive cases and protectors, good ones yes but Just not expensive.

It, the iphone 7, has a better display, better SoC, better storage options, better build materials, better support for it's hardware and software and is a fashion-statement type of status symbol. Yes, people are going to buy it. You clearly hate the iPhone, yet don't know much at all about it. That's also a status.

I don't care about fashion statement. besides, my phone is in my pocket most of the time if I'm not using it, especially at work. Battery might last longer, but my s8 Plus gets great battery life and it's not like I won't be around my charger for over a day. I usually charger wireless at night, but if I ever do need to charger I have the fast charger.

Build quality I always use the Otterbox Defender or Unicorn Beetle so most of the phone isn't even showing.

I also find AOD quite useful, something the iPhone 7 does not have.

Yea, the Otterbox Defender for the Note always cost a lot! Always cost more than the S series so I would expect the Note 8 Defender will MSRP around$69-$79! Of course after a few weeks places like Amazon will slash the price and Sams will eventually carry it too which they don't charge near MSRP.

When I do get the Note if the Defender is a ton I might order a couple of Unicorn Beetles and the Caselogic Legion which I have as a backup case right now.

Samsung sounds great for you, I was just responding to something about inferior display and old hardware. Neither of those are correct things with the iPhone vs S8. Hopefully the note 8 introduces a leap forward in display accuracy.

the current iPhone display is still not nearly as good as the S8. With all the money cRapple makes i have to wonder why they have not switched to AMOLED display. IMO why if people still keep buying their product why switch to something more costly. If Apple sold cow manure and slapped an Apple logo on it people would still buy it. Their sheep are amazing. I don't see people lining up overnight at Best Buy for the latest Galaxy phone like you do with Apple with the IPhone and iPad.

Yep that's what I was addressing. S8 is on par with S7. iPhone 7 is a better display. It's not about IPS or AMOLED or anyone's logo.

The iPhone display is the most accurate display on a phone to date. So yes, it is one of the best period. Resolution and vibrate colors does not make a display good especially when they aren't accurate.

Then why does even Flossy Carter bash iPhone 7's display? In one of his videos on the review of the iPhone 7 he said something like "the display is pretty much trash."

Meh! If the specs are good enough, people will buy it. A lot still purchase via their carrier on subsidized plans

Mod Note: Okay, we've already got lots of iPhone vs Android threads going around and we're getting close to post cleanup here. Let's please get back on track for the Note 8 and leave the other comments outside the door.

When a phone becomes more expensive than laptops or desktops, there is a problem.

A lot of people....especially younger people....aren't using laptops or desktop computers anymore. They use their phones and tablets. And they'll pay top dollar for them. Both of my kids have laptops and neither of them really have the slightest clue how to use them. Sure, they can get online and check email and use Office, but they have absolutely no idea how to actually use them. Their laptops spend more time with the lid down than a toilet in the ladies room.

For the average, everyday consumer laptop and desktop computers are a thing of the past.

I have to disagree mostly. Tablets are nice to have to watch videos on and easy to carry out and about, but it's still not the same as a laptop. I tried it before with the Surface tablet and with the Note Tab at school instead of lugging my laptop around and it just didn't work out. Even the surface tablet with Office on it is still not the same experience including the keyboard with it. Hard to type as fast on those keyboards for tablets.

I can type an email much faster on my laptop than on my s8 Plus. Tablets and smartphones are fine in a pinch but when I really want to surf the web and such it's my laptop.

Agreed. However smartphones are much more of a daily necessity than lap tops. If every OEM decided to charge 1000 dollars for phones, we'd pay it. It's actually already getting to that point.

To me, I think smartphones replace tablets. I have a desktop and a smartphone for personal use. If I travelled, I could see having a tablet as well. Everyone's uses are different.

He does but all these legit review companies and sites do not. Flossy is just another nobody on YouTube.
