To be cheap?? If the rumored $1599 price for new model... gotta have saved the $200 somewhere.

Hmm... gsmarena was wondering about it too. But interesting enough they are thinking that maybe only the outer screen is writable. Interesting thought because then you don't have to worry about the inside display. But I would feel that both displays should be writable.

I'm assuming that Samsung made it clear on the inside screen. They said they changed the inside screen to be more durable to handle using a Spen. The whole reason the fold 2 didn't get the Spen was because the inside screen wouldn't handle it.

At this point in time might as well wait for the fold 3 official announcement and pricing. The fold 3 being IPX 8 rated and stronger screens, the inside rumored to be 80% stronger amongst other improvements, it might be better to get the fold 3. Worse case scenario, the fold 2 used will just get cheaper by waiting for the fold 3 to release.


With that said, I would reserve the fold 3 thru Samsung before it's to late. By reserving you get extra $100 off price, free 12 months of Samsung care, ( insurance), and some other extra gift. You're not committed, so just in case you go with fold 3 might as well save more money and get extra perks.

I am trading in S21U ($450) for a Fold 2 ($995 after trade-in) to see how I like it. Arrives 8/24. Might then trade that in for Fold 3. Even have some older phones as 2nd device to trade.

I use S-pen constantly, but not for note taking, just in place of tapping in place of using a finger. Just didn't want to wait for 3 to start shipping.

Apparently the pre-order bundle for the Z Fold 3 will include the S-pen, a case that holds the S-pen, and a 25w charger if I read that right from some site.
(lol, of course chargers are now benefits).

I'm fairly certain that the Z Fold 3 will have better trade-in deals. $450 is what is being offered for all Galaxy phones. $900 for S21U or Note20U seems a stretch though.

The Z Fold 2 will be a year old in 2 months. But I do think I could see $900 on trading it in.

Well, it looks like the Note 20 Ultra trade in value is a whopping $850! It's the second highest trade-in value after the Fold 2 for $900. The S21 Ultra is $750.

It's very obvious they are trying to target Note 20U owners.
