Samsung's goal with Tizen?

The difference between Windows and Android being that Android is made up from a bunch of open source bits. Samsung can stick Dalvik libraries into Tizen so that it can run Android apps and use that as a big selling point.
afazel, I think you have a valid point. This just adds to Tizen's ability to gain traction in an Android/iOS dominated market. I think I'm wrong, but even if Android is open source, there's still some rules that Google enforces and it may make your point a little harder to materialize. I would actually go ahead and license the use of the Google Play Apps from Google and slowly build up your own market, if Google allows it. But a great point nevertheless...

I don't think they'll use the Google Play ecosystem, but their own store where devs will send their Android apps. Android coding is done in Java, and porting them would be as simple as adding in the Tizen controls (i.e. back, menu, home).

People don't buy OS's, they buy phone brands. And Samsung odd the number one non-Apple brand out there right now, they'll sell a ton of phones no matter what's hiding under the Touchwiz skin.
