Saving whats app photos on s21

Struggling to be able to save photos from what's app... I've googled it but I don't see what I'm doing wrong. Shouldn't be this hard should it?!

When I click on the photo and the 3 dots, I don't get a save option.

It's possible they are being downloaded automatically. Which options do you have selected in WhatsApp Settings - Storage & Data?

If you can't see those images in your gallery make sure this option is selected in WhatsApp settings - Chats.

It is definitely a weakness of the app. I personally do not want these pics automatically showing up in the gallery. There should be a way to save them.

I am in the same boat as the OP. I have just concluded that I have to take screen grabs and save them manually.

In not sure what you mean. You can decide if you want them downloaded automatically or not and, also, if they show up in your Gallery.

Hmmm… the download automatically is for voice messages I think. And if I don’t want the pics to appear in my gallery, you would think the three dots in upper left of image should let me choose to save to gallery or secure folder when I am viewing an image.
