Says I have a new message even after completely deleting my inbox

My phone keeps telling me there is 1 unread message in all messages as well as SMS and it is driving me crazy so I deleted my entire inbox. However, it still says it even though there are no visible messages. This bothers me. Anyone know what is going on or how to fix this? I tried turning off and pulling out the battery.

Thanks.

Go to gmail via your browser and read or delete it there. Will fix it.

Another fix is when you get a text message, rather then clicking it in the notification panel, open the app and click the indicator on the bottom and bring up the new text message, this will clear it out.

You know, now that you mention it, that's probably what it is. I've noticed this happening to me quite a bit with text messages.

Same here...thanks for the ideas. I've had it happen with both Gmail and SMS

Ya, it's very annoying. It seems to happen everytime I exit out of the messaging app very fast instead of waiting a minute to let it load.

This. When I used the stock app I had to train myself to wait until the number/notification disappeared before exiting. Takes a couple of extra seconds but works every time.

Hey guys ah I tried everything on here different sites and what worked for me taking battery out for half hour and it was gone!
