Screen Blackout

When I am on a call and I have to Press Four To Get Absolutely Nowhere, my screen goes black when I remove the phone from my ear. I tap the screen to wake it up and usually end up pushing a wrong button.

What is that screen blackout? This happens on short calls as well.

Something might be interfering with the proximity sensor, such that the phone thinks it's still up against your ear when you take it away. Does it have a screen protector or case on?

No screen protector and I just got a case for it recently.
