Screen burn in, six days in!

So I'm merely on day six with my GW4 Classic 46 mm, and I've already got screen burn in! I noticed it when using AOD on a watchface that covers a larger fraction of the screen in something other than black (picture attached). Very disappointed with this, especially given that I've owned all of Samsung's smartwatches going back to the Gear S2 and never had this problem. Hopefully I just got a lemon; I'm calling Samsung now to start an exchange.

Anyone else have this issue?

I bet it will go away after a few hours. I noticed this on my GW3 whne I was using a certain watch face for a while. Only happened with the particular face.

Good to know! It does appear to be fading (could be my perception). I initiated the trade in but based on what you said, I'll wait a day before I go through with it.
@felloffthetruck I've been using AOD 16/7 (since I don't sleep with AOD on), but I'll certainly let you guys know if it goes away on its own!

I also use AOD but haven't noticed any screen burn in on my GW4C. I do think your will go away. Maybe just change watch faces every few days. I generally find a few I like and swap between them.

So it's been over two hours since my original post, and I think you're right. The burn in is gone. Curious why I never noticed this with my GW3. Anyway, I'll continue looking carefull at this for the next few days and keep you guys updated.

Curious also what other peoples' experiences are with this. Anyone else noticing a temporary burn in effect?

Glad that it's going away for you! Like I mentioned, it only did this for me on my GW3 with this one watch face I was using. If you really like the one that is causing the burn in, I'd just use it for a day or so and then switch. If you're perfectly happy with another one, I'd just stop using it and see if it happens with the new face.

That is fantastic news. I've been checking mine like a madman :-\

I've been looking at this more closely. The temporary burn in is still a problem when I use AOD, and it only affects the lower half of my screen. I think it's not a design flaw in the watch (since no one else reports this), I probably just got a lemon. I've started a return with Samsung, and will probably just buy the same watch from the local T-Mobile store and then ship this one off to Samsung.

Still curious if anyone else is seeing this.

I feel like I have the same issue with my watch4. It's more of light bleeding than burn in.

It seems that, based on others reporting, that it goes away after a time. Is this the same for you? Try changing your watch face to something that does not light up as much of the screen and see if that helps it fade and go from there. If you still have the issue and can hold out until they are back in stock to initiate the return, might be better?

I saw someone on Facebook group post something similar and someone said it was the watch face I don't know that for sure though.

So the burn in issue for me is temporary, but it happens with pretty much every watch face I use. When I go for an hour long run, the Samsung Health workout screen even burns in temporarily. I'm gonna go buy a new watch and return this one to Samsung.

Speaking of which, I called T-Mobile and found that while they don't have the 46 mm silver in stock, you can walk into their store and order one, and it'll arive in two to three business days.

You said you use AOD? What was/is your brightness level set at? Probably need to lay off of both

I do use AOD, and my brightness is set to 6 (with auto brightness enabled). I don't think this is the problem though, since I had the exact same settings on my GW3 and never experienced this.

Also, there's a gradient to the temporary burn in. It affects the bottom half of the display far more than the top. Which really makes me think this is a defect particular to the watch I received. It would be unfortunate if the GW4 had a less resilient display than the GW3. :(

That's just like mine. It only affects the lower left part of the watch. Although when I heard press to change watch faces the background looks burnt in

Dang, not happy to hear I'm not an outlier. I ordered a new watch from T-Mobile and it should arrive in seven days, hopefully that one will have a perfect display. As to your burn in being only in the lower left part of the watch, yeah that sounds similar. Here's another photo of what I'm seeing.

As you can see it's only the bottom half of the display.

Been doing some Googling and it looks like there are others with this problem:

I'm at least thankful that it's hard to find people talking about this, which means that most units are probably OK. And since I'm purchasing through T-Mobile this time and returning the Samsung watch, if I get unlucky a second time I'll at least have a physical store to go complain to.
