Screen Burn In

I knew that was going to be suggested. I have my reasons why I'm staying legit with this device. Thanks though! :p

I understand. It's all good. Though you really may want to try another app just to make sure you don't have a hardware issue. I have used the rooted version with no issues. I will say though that the screen of this device gets hot during heavy data usage, hot spot use or otherwise.

I develop the molecules for OLED technology and we supply the technology to Samsung.

Burn in happens when the molecules degrades faster than surrounding molecules. This will not fix itself like LCD where crystals persist until they are discharged and realign themselves.

Best advice I can give is not to leave static images for long periods of time such as clocks at night. Find clocks that jump around the screen if possible.

Sounds like Common... Sense That was a bad joke. Thanks for the input.

Hmmm, so what are the likely pain points for burn-in on this device? The soft buttons, the permanent Google search bar... parts of the notification bar?

Yeah pretty much but you need to keep those images on for hours on end to see degradation so quickly. I've had many many galaxy phones so far have not had this problem on any. Just use good judgement and remember not to leave your screen awake for long periods of time. Oh and when watching long videos make sure you have in on full screen.

Just do what I do, watch full screen geek porn (Android on Android) every 2 hours. That should take care of you! :p

I hear that, I'm not worried about getting burn-in within the first few days or anything like that, but it'd definitely be annoying to have to spend year 2 of a 2-year contract with little burnt-in tidbits here and there. Then again, I've got one of the original Droid Incredibles with the AMOLED screen and haven't seen any burn-in so far, so perhaps that's indicative that my usage habits won't be overly problematic.

This seems to be happening with something as simple as my wallpaper...

When I switch applications, I can still see bits of it in the background during the transition period..

Are you not shutting your screen off ?

I am shutting it off...but it only lasts for a second...the "burn" that is

I have my brightness turned all the way up and don't experience this at all, but my screen is set to turn off after 15 seconds.

If someone has "permanent" burn in, you can always try doing what they do for plasma TVs. Try finding a video of static (like when there's no reception on a TV) and let it play for a long time. Or you can find a scrolling video - it's like a black to white gradient passing through the screen. I don't know if it will work, but it helps eliminate burn-in on plasma TVs, could probably help with AMOLED screens.

I do see some burn in even when I go into the market and it transitions from window to window...

I'm actually worried about this because when you have the galaxy nexus set up for video time lapse, the screen has to be on and I would image that after a few hours, the UI for the video camera might be burned in the screen.

Or what about using navigation for a few hours in the car?

Is there a way to avoid this effect as the dimmest setting or does that just slow down the process?

Thanks
