Is it ok to clean the screen of the device with baby wipes? They are damp and I am concerned about liquid getting close to the start button or getting under the screen.

As long as the wipes aren't too moist or dripping, it should be fine and the humidity should evaporate fairly quickly. However I'd rather use disinfecting wipes rather than baby ones, as those might contain oily stuff for baby skin that won't really clean your screen.

Baby wipes are too wet and too abrasive. (Even tissues, the kind you use to blow your nose, are abrasive.)

Use a microfiber eyeglass cleaning cloth. Use eyeglass cleaning solution - spray one corner of the cloth one spray, then use that to wipe off the fingerprints and smudges. Use the dry part of the cloth to dry the screen. (The whole setup shouldn't cost $5 at any optometrist or Walmart's eye center.)
