Screen comes on when I get a text message. How do I stop that?

It doesn't come on when I get emails, etc. but it does when I get a text message. I don't like that. It just wastes battery. How do I keep the screen from coming on in this instance?

Go into your notification settings and turn off text messages from your notification center or at least turn off coming to your lock screen.
