Screen died? How do you soft reset?

I dont understand your question? so the screen is dead and you want to wipe the phone before returning it?

The screen is dark. It is not responding to me pressing the home button. The phone is not off, the notification light is working. I need to know how to do a 'SOFT RESET'.

Soft reset - hold the power button for 10 to 20 seconds. It will automatically restart.

Lets see if you can get it into recovery, Pull out the battery, put it back in , Press and hold the Volume up + Home keep holding and press and hold power button until it goes into recovery mode, tell me if you see anything

I totally spaced out there. LOL. I did a regular battery pull. I guess i'm still brain washed by my Iphone. It worked. Thanks.

Welcome, but the screen should not lock you out like that, let us know if it happens again

This just happened to my Note 2. The screen would not come on and it did not respond to the soft reset procedure. I also had to take the battery out.
