screen dim then bright then dim again

My note 4 screen has a habit of going real dim for a while then bright for a while then dark again...its very annoying. Why does it do this and can it be fixed? Thanks. I have auto brightness off by the way.

How bright are we talking about here? Is it as bright as when you use your camera (with auto brightness checked)? I once ran into this because I stopped a service having to do with managing camera effects in Selfie mode... sorry, can't remember which service it was. Do you have any camera apps installed other than the default.

Try starting the phone in Safe Mode to see if a 3rd party app is causing this.

It gets a bit darker. Its noticeable. It doesnt have anything to do with the camera.
