So, when I'm in a call, the screen goes black when I hold the phone to my ear, as it should. However, when I move it away from my ear, the screen should light back up, but does not, so I am unable to end the call. Instead, I have to press the power button. Every other Samsung phone I've owned (since the GS5) would light up immediately once I pulled it away from my ear. Any ideas on what is going on here? TIA.

Do you have a screen protector or a case on? If so, make sure they're not partially blocking the proximity sensor.

No, the case does not block the sensor, and the screen protector is the one that came with the phone.

Mine does the samething sometimes. I too have to hit the power to get the screen on. Usually if I'm on a longer call than normal is when it happens. It's not a defect, that's just the way it is. Keep doing what you're doing.

Same here. I agree the screen should come back on when phone is moved away from ear. I think it's a bug.

I think I remember there were settings within the stock dialer app to customize this function but I can't find it now. There is an option within main settings under Accessibility to use the power button to end calls.

The problem with using the power button to end calls, is that if the phone doesn't light up when you take it away from your ear and you need it lit up to key in something for instance, when you push the power button to wake it up, it disconnects the call.

Good point. I really thinks it's a bug with the proximity sensor functionality.
