Screen fails to shut-off automatically

So ive had the 4.4 update for about a week. The other day, I fished out my N4 from my pocket (6 hours off of charge with nearly zero usage) and found my battery allmost depleted. I found out that once you wake the phone, the screen will not turn off automatically after X amount of time and stays on for HOURS AND HOURS. Apparently, while it was in my pocket, the unlock button was hit and the screen continously stayed on for like 4 solid hours. Anyway to fix this besides a factory reset? Thanks.

Try rebooting. Have had the same problem
