Screen flashes on for about a second while charging

When I plug up my phone nightly, recently my screen has turned on also temporarily stopping charging. It is currently still happening, and it annoys me as I sleep.

Welcome to Android Central! Have you tried other charging cables? Perhaps there's a loose connection somewhere. Also, check the microUSB port for any debris.

I don't have another cable. There is no loose connection outside of the out let as the USB cable is in as far as it could be :/
It could be the debris in the microUSB or as a mechanic suggested that when it heated up the connecting prongs would get further away from the current, however they will cool down and go back to the current, but the process repeats itself.

USB cables are inexpensive, so I'd get another one to see if it works better. Or borrow one from your friends.
