My wife and I both have the S7 active, we both upgraded a few months ago and we both have been experiencing the same problem.
During use, our phone screen will become completely unresponsive. It doesn't seem to matter which app we are using or if we are using an app at all.
If the screen is unlocked for a period of time it just stopped responding to touch.
If you press the power button to lock the phone and unlock it the phone's screen will respond for a while and become unresponsive again.
I've tried factory resets twice and haven't found a solution.

Has anyone hear of anything like this?

After you factory reset the phone, did you reinstall all your apps again, or did you still experience the problem with no apps installed?

Regardless, have you tried starting your phone(s) in Safe mode to see if it's an app problem. Safe mode will disable 3rd party apps so the system can basically run with only system apps. If the problem goes away, then it's one of your apps causing the issue. If that's true, then probably the same app is causing issues on both phones. By the way, most Google apps seem to be causing issues right now, so it could even be updates to Google apps that are messing things up. Unfortunately, Google apps will load in Safe mode, so if they're the culprit, the phone may still display the same issue even in safe mode. If that's the case, try uninstalling all Google apps updates (while in safe mode) to see if the problem goes away. A lot of work, a lot of time, but unavoidable as it is.

Good news and bad news Tydal, we went to a service center and my wife's phone received a complete wipe and it seemed to fix her problem. I imagine you can find a software to do this online and not have to go in. My phone received the same and it did not fix the problem, they replaced the phone at no charge to me. Since then we haven't had any issues. Wish you the best of luck, a touch screen not responding is pretty much the most frustrating phone issue one can have.
