Does your S7 edge have a screen gap?

Hi Guys,

I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge Gold which I purchased while I was traveling from the Uae.
The phone had an issue with the home button and I had to eventually send it back to get it repaired.

The service center in the UAE replaced the entire screen and front panel of the phone and now everything works fine.

But i noticed the other day that there is a gap in the screen and metal frame of the phone on the left side.

And through this gap i can see the connector of the volume button.
The gap is larger on the left side and very minimum on the right side.

Through this gap light leaks and its very annoying.

I can easily slide a piece of paper through the gap but I cannot slide a thick business card.

I am extremely concerned about two things:

1) Water getting in through the gaps
2)The light leaking making my screen and device faulty.

I can see the light leak during the day when the screen is maxed at brightness although it is more visible in a darker environment and also the LED notification light bleeds just a bit from the top gap between the screen and frame.

I was wondering if this was normal?
I pray to god that it is as my warranty expires in 2months and I have no one to send my phone back with or otherwise I need to spend 300$ for a repair.

I have attached pictures... Do let me know what you think.

Thanks :)

Thank you for this thread by the way.

I got the S7 edge new and after looking at this post I checked my phone and found the gap with light bleeding through it as well.

Went to the store and gave it in for replacement. It will arrive in one or two days. Meanwhile they gave me a replacement LGG4.

Never had an LG. Really liking it :p

Will let you know what happens.

Apparently all phones have a gap but I dont know if this is normal?

Oh my word! Just checked mine!

The whole way around the frame there is a light bleed, lol!

My light bleed is even all the way around.

I've had it in water in a weekly basis when I clean it and no water has made it in.

This seems to be due to how the Edge Display is built.

EDIT:

It seems this a normal thing.

It's the display between the glass and frame reflecting light especially with lite colours or white.

I wouldn't worry but it's up to you.

Hahaha yes mine made a ring around the phone as well. It's good to know that it doesn't affect water resistance. But I still had to get it replaced for my piece of mind.

Mine isn't even that is the issue.
The gap is a little larger on the left side compared to the right.

Can you slide a piece of paper thorough the gap?

Got the replacement. It has the gap as well :p but not as bad as the one before. I don't care about it. As people mentioned above, it's normal. And it doesn't affect water resistance so everything is fine.

And yes I can slide a piece of paper easily.

If I remember correctly from when I had the edge the manual says it's normal for the gap.

Apparently nobody here understands how light works when passed through glass....

Unless you can get you fingernail between the glass and metal edge then there's nothing wrong.

In a dark room turn the brightness up full and display a white screen with a black band along the horizontal axis (get a white wallpaper and colour in a section black in the photo editor). You'll see that you can only see light on the edge from where the part of the display is lit up. The 'bleed' isn't a bleed, just the light being projected out from the edges of the display. Think viewing angles and how light is projected, being so close to the edge it bounces off the metal sides giving the illusion of light bleed.
