Screen goes from dim to bright on wake up

I have the Samsung Galaxy On7 running 5.1.1 and was wondering if anyone noticed this on their device. When i wake up my phone the screen turns on dim for a split second and then goes to normal brightness. Is this normal ?

Have tried switching off the automatic brightness??

I don't have that option. Just manual and outdoor.
