Screen is cracked and doesn't turn on, phone works...what do i buy?

My phone was dropped and the screen cracked. It still worked fine, but water then got inside the exposed portion of the screen. My phone otherwise works, because it still receives notifications / calls. I would like to replace the screen, but I think that I need more than just the glass itself. I would like to DIY the repair, but I am not sure what I would need to purchase, as the problem seems to be more than simply a cracked display. Can someone please tell me what I should be ordering so that I can fix the screen? I get the feeling that it will be more extensive than just a screen repair kit. Thanks in advance.

Phones aren't designed to be repaired DIY - the heat you need to remove the screen idn't much less than the heat you need to damage components that are also getting warmed up.

Save yourself a lot of money and heartache and bring it to a repair shop for an estimate. Then decide whether it pays to repair or replace.
