Screen issues, anyone seen this before?

For a couple weeks now my phone will spontaneously have the screen go out and just as randomly start working again after some duration of inactivity.

So far I've made sure that I haven't installed any new apps in that timeframe. Phone is working fine. During these 'episodes' I've tried soft and hard reboots with no change (but the screen is working).

Has anyone seen this before? The phone has never been cracked open, but is it possible the cable to the LCD came loose? I feel like I may have seen a screen do something similar long in the past. Looking to try and find a known fix or possible options before popping it open if I can.

I'd have to say the digitizer is going. Maybe related to heat, loose connection or failing component. Tough call, but intermittent would send me to what I listed.

Yeah, I was afraid of that. Was hoping for software over hardware. Just seem to have no luck with components lately. Not that I'm one to buy the screen seperate from the digitizer, but it's probably the LCD not the digitizer right? Since the touch screen still responds it seems to be a visual issue? In either case, looks like it's time to replace the whole front end. Thanks PJ.
