Screen keeps lighting up after locking

Hi everyone, my gs3 recently developed a problem :c
Everytime I hit the lock button it lights up the screen right afterwards. Most of the time it stays locked. I uninstalled all of my newer apps and it still does it. I really don't want to do factory reset but I will if needed.

Also, if I try to restart The phone (holding down lock button) almost everytime the menu won't appear.

Things I have done:
Uninstalled newer apps
Rebooted phone
Hard reset
Tried apps to lock phone

It sounds like you have a defective Power button.

But to eliminate any wayward apps from the equation you can try booting into Safe mode and see what happens.

If the problem still occurs you're going to want to perform a Factory Reset since that's the first thing the carrier is going to have you do.

You can use the Kies software on your PC to backup your contacts, SMS/MMS, pictures/videos, call logs and TouchWiz settings.
