Screen Lock Delay

This is my first time with the Samsung line of Android phones as a primary device. Until this point, I've had Moto's as my main mobile device. That being said, I'm curious if this is possible w/ the phone in it's stock fashion or even via app.

I like my ("password") protected lock screen. But there are times where I'm texting or emailing multiple people and I get the notification that a message has been received, but I have to unlock the phone to get to it. Past phones I've owned, there was a delay in the lock screen needing to be unlocked via "password".

That is to say, I would use the phone, manually lock it (to save battery as well as not mistakenly pocket-dial someone), then a minute or two later pick up the phone, do the simple "non-password" swipe and continue using my phone as usual. But after (let's say) 10min, the phone would lock itself requiring a password to use it again.

Does this feature exist on the GS5??? I've been trying quite a few things but so far no luck. And of course searching around online and I can't find a single thing regarding this.
I'd rather not root my phone, YET.

I'd even be fine with a non-rooted app, though I'd rather use the stock setting IF possible.
I just want SOME slide-to-access security in case I hit the "Power" button while it's in my pocket.

Yeah, after asking this on a couple of forums, this seems to be the closest, but sadly it's not exactly what I want, so I guess it's time I check out some new apps and so on... Thanks though

Just uncheck the lock instantly with power button option and it's exactly what you are talking about.

Err not quite.
With Moto's, when you hit the power button, the screen goes black and it goes to sleep. When you press it again (before the set time for the password to engage) you get the standard non-password swipe screen.

With the S5, when I hit the power button a second time, it either opens up right at the screen I was previously looking at OR a password protected swipe screen.

I want the password to engage after X number of minutes, but as I tend to reply to emails/texts and drop the phone in my pocket I tend to hit the Power button and wake the phone up. So half the time I take phone out of my pocket later on I see I've called someone, I've sent a random text, or I've opened a series of apps.
With the Moto phone, when I hit the power button while it's in my pocket, I'm protected because I still have to swipe to access the phone.

Nevertheless, I've come to terms that this is a feature Samsung lacks at this point in time.

I see now. It doesn't work as you'd expect. I've only ever had Motorola before this phone. So my expectations of how it works were the same. I was under the impression you couldn't find the right combination of settings because it's so different. I tried downloading smart actions from my apps to see if they would work but not compatible. I miss having my phone automatically going to silent and only letting calls through for people like my wife if for some reason there was an emergency and her or I weren't home.

Delayed Lock from the app store fixes this.
ATT version has that inbuilt (even S4 did this), but for some reason this functionality is different in the international ROMS (and TMobile Roms)

Not quite, the developer has a warning on this app.

Device incompatibility:
• Some HTC devices: Pattern lock might not work
• Some Samung devices: Notification bar might be accessable even in locked state
Samsung Galaxy S5: User reported that after 3 days, the device does not accept the PIN/password any more. Make sure you enable the "Android Device Manager" to remotely change your password in case this happens! Also try to disable the fingerprint feature before setting up Delayed Lock

I don't see any reviews based on my specific S5 (SM-G900P), but I guess I'll give it a shot. A simple reset can fix any problems I may run into.
I shall report back if there are any problems.

I am having the same problem with my S5 that I just activated last night. Did you find a way around the issue, so you can do the non password swipe when you're within the 10 min or whatever?

If not, what did you decide to do instead? I really don't want to need to do a password every time I unlock my phone, but I also don't want just anyone to be able to use the phone.

Glad you posted this thread... I can't find others anywhere!

Hi, it used to work fine for me until recently. the only option i now have is "immediately". All the other options have vanished.
