screen lock freezes sometimes.

I started using screen lock apps, with slide and pincode options. I was using slidelock. After sometime, after an upgrade or two to the app, the screen lock started to freeze. It would not let me unlock the phone, but stayed at the locked screen only. I had to restart the phone itself, and that also by removing the battery and reinserting. I could not access anything on the phone. So I uninstalled slidelock.
I started using cleanmaster screen lock, and for many days, this worked great. But this morning, again the freeze screen lock started. I had to remove the battery and restart the phone.
Has something similar happened to anyone else? What is the solution to this?
I am using Samsung Note 3 with android 4.4.2

I've had exactly the same behaviour with slidelock on my note 3, but it only happens when the low battery alert triggers. Plugging the phone in to the charger then allows the unlock to work. Is it possible that this is also happening to you?
