Screen only: Kindle Fire HD 7in versus Nexus 7

I had an original Kindle Fire, the screen was OK. I then moved to a Nexus 7, the screen was a little better, but compared with my Galaxy Nexus the colors just looked a bit washed out. I sold my Nexus 7 when I got an iPad as a gift but now I am really wanting to go back to a smaller tablet. Also not being able to change the default browser in iOS is the most annoying thing ever and I don't like double buying apps.

So now my question, if you only compare the screens on the Kindle Fire HD 7in to the Nexus 7 which is better or are they pretty much identical?

Nexus = Much better Processor, NFC chip, gps, Bluetooth, more apps.

Kindle Fire HD = Larger but lighter. Faster speeds due to mini ( supposedly)
