Hello. Bought my Dad a 2015 Moto G last November. He is telling me suddenly the phone screen won't turn on. He only sees it light up for phone calls which he can answer.

The phone has been cased and not dropped but is there anything that you can think of that may be the problem?

Try a hard reset first, press and hold the power button for 10+ seconds until it reboots... My hunch is this won't work though, sounds like a bad power button.

That is what it seems like. How do I prove that too Motorola? It is weird. Is this a common problem? Any way around this?

Prove it? The power button doesn't work, you call customer service and they will have you talk to a "tech" and verify it is nothing stupid, then send it in. Moto isn't terrible about warranty policy unless you unlocked the bootloader.

Sorry. I had a horrible experience with Oneplus calling a hardware problem a software problem. I called into Motorola and they sent fed ex label to mail it in and see if they can repair it. I hope it does not take long. They say 5 days but we will see.

Hmm... 5 business days for repair + shipping and processing makes about 10 business days, or about 2 weeks, total. That seems to line up with what other users are saying recently, but hopefully you get it back sooner.

Good thing this wasn't 6 months ago, there was a supply problem for Moto and some repairs were pushing 30-45 days, although enough "complaining" would usually net you a new device or Moto Maker code.

Let us know how it turns out, good luck!

2 of my friends faced the same same problem.
In their case the screen won't turn on even for incoming call

First friend's problem got solved when I did a hard reset.
turning off the phone was a problem as it did not show the turn off options as screen was not working.
We turned off the phone by looking at my Moto G3 where the Power off option appears when we press the power button.

Second friend fully charged the phone overnight and his screen started working next morning
