After doing a complete scan with smart manager the overlay issue is solved with my note 4.

Setting>personalization>smart manager>device security>scan device

I have seen many peoples having trouble in 6. 0 marshmallow in permission regarding screen overlays , many peoples might have told u many things but the only thing u have to do is to restore and backup your phone from the settings after that everything will be fine your new version , have fun with your marshmallow

I have found a way to fix this problem it 100% works i asked the company about this matter it seems the current latest android version has problems with third party apps like du speed booster, clean master. Etc. So to get access turned on u have to delete those third party apps like cleaners or virus detectors and then turn off all overlays permission so u can turn the access u needed be turned on. But if u need some be turned on just repeat those and turn them on manually by going to manage applications and turn them on.

Hope it works for u as the way it works for me!!GL!!

all you have to do is disable SIDEPANEL or any related feature of the INFAMOUS TOUCHWIZ

i have a NOTE 4 and suffered with this for a long time, unistalling every suspicious app, disable all the apps, restarting
wipe cache, the only solution that i have at one time was factory reset the phone but the problem returns
thats when i realize that it was not an app, the problem was in the system.:-X

This is the solution for galaxy. I have a note 4 removed side panel and the overlay loop was cured. Thanks dude you're awesome!

Got it fixed on my Note 4..... go to settings, display and wallpaper. Select One-Handed operation, Side Key panel. Once at this window TURN OFF side key panel. You will find the on/off button on the top right corner. Turn it to OFF. It took me days to figure this out but this worked on the Samsung Note 4.

Same issue here Rckfsh... LG G4. Cant do a thing with it.

Samsung Galaxy S6, same problem, twitter and skype.

Temporary fix: Reset all app preferences and reboot.
Pain the backside but it works for me.

I have the same issue. LG. It didn't start until this latest system update I received yesterday. I don't have any screen filters. It just puts you in a loop with no solution. Changing the settings where the popup takes you does nothing. Not only can I not upload or open photos but I can't change permissions on any app. It's effecting more apps than fb, etc. It's really getting old.

It happened to my iPhone with the last system update with Metro pcs. You would think they would patch the error but they haven't. I cannot even attach a picture to a message or email. This is ridiculous! #MetroPCSsucks I contacted the customer service via en and they were unable to help me. After going into detail with the problem the representative ask me "can you send me a screenshot of what the error is telling you?" I was like are you kidding me??? What part of I cannot attach, access or cross reference anything??

Mine did not work that way... Had to uninstall Clean master (CM) post that only Note 5 was functioning properly

I have an LG 4G and have been fighting with this error for a week now. After trying most of the suggestions here in this thread, this is what finally worked for me. I went to Settings-Backup & Reset----and I reset the system settings back to default. This does not affect downloaded apps, personal data or the security, language and account settings. Again, this is the system settings reset, Not the Factory data reset or the Network settings reset.

You are so right on why android hasn't come up with a fix for this! This is stupid. I have WASTED so much time on trying to resolve this and still a endless loop with no FIX. Mine started as well with last update. I even took my phone to metro pcs, one said software issue. Really? This is not our job to figure out what genius did to screw up our phones. I can't access 90% of my apps.

In Samsung this error is because of on screen side key panel.
Just go to notification panel=>expand it=>turn off side key panel

I was having the problem with my Note 4. I did not have any of those apps mentioned installed, I disabled overlay on every app, and still had the problem.

I turned of Side key panel and it worked

What worked for me was placing the stylus back in it's slot. This shuts of the pen overlay. I own an LG Stylus 2.

I am also having the same issue on my LG3 that also has the latest update of 6.0. Has anybody figured out how to fix it? I've turned off the screen overlay on FB, CleanMaster Messanger and CM Security but atill having same issie, I can't even use my Message app to text not take pictures ..
