Way too expensive
$1000 phone and you're complaining about a $45 glass screen protector? Do you have any kind of idea what it will cost to replace the screen if you crack it?
There is a screen protector that comes preinstalled.
Went to the ATT store today and noticed all of the units had it installed as I saw some dust buildup around the hole punch.
Rep told me they have a 30 day warranty from Samsung.
Anyway. Here's a pic.
Is it just plastic or glass? Is there a pull tab to remove it or not?
Fair point, but it's worth noting that a cracked screen is usually on the order of $200 to replace, and there's a good chance that your credit card already offers you insurance to cover that. My Uber Visa card, for example, has $600 in mobile phone insurance (two claims per year) as long as I pay my bill with the card.
What I wonder is why Samsung doesn't offer a glass screen protector for their own phone. My barrier is not the $50, but the fact that I have to install it myself and risk throwing that $50 down the drain if I mess up. I'd much rather pay Samsung $50 to ship my phone with a glass screen protector pre-installed.
A new screen for a Note 9 is $250 +/- and that's only because the prices have come down. You've also got the charge for labor that will cost as much as the screen if not more than the screen. Asking for Samsung to include a glass screen protector is like asking Chevy to provide insurance in case you dent the door. Screen protection is your responsibility.

I was at an AT&T store today looking at the S10+ again and I made a point to ask about screen protectors. I mentioned the fact that it was said that they apparently needed to be certified by Samsung in order for the IDFS to work properly, but I was told there's no reason why TGSP's wouldn't work. The guy then showed me his Note 9, that had a Zagg TGSP on it. Sigh, I don't know. I'm hoping Samsung comes out with a list of approved third party manufacturers of screen protectors. Whitestone Dome looks like too much of a chore, plus it's way too expensive. I wish RhinoShield came out with their 6-layer impact protection film again. That one saved my Nexus 6P's screen countless times. If only they figured out how to curve it.
