Screen Protector, Is it Needed on a Note 7

Corning has rebutted the claims that GG 5 is less scratch resistant than GG4. GG5 just has more shatter reistance...it is not softer (according to Corning)as claimed by some.
In any event...use a screen protector if a scratch is going to ruin your day!

I didn't leave the Verizon store without a glass screen protector.

I had a colleague crack a S7 Edge. She looked around for a store to put on a replacement screen. The best price she could get was $400. Those curved screens are expensive.

100% disagree with everyone that said you need it. Nope nope and NO. I have a very light weight case. No screen protector. I tried TWO of them. The plastic ones cause the s pen to stick a little. It's not smooth.

The glass ones that are curved do not stay on. Then the one that I had that I thought would stay on caused me to not be able to type the letters S and E without pushing harder on the screen.

Well, there is a difference between needing one and being able to apply one. My wife's Note needs a SP, but I can't find one that fits... Her S7 needed a SP, but that one was just as hard to fit. So she didn't have one on her S7 and she doesn't have one on her Note.

edit: I quoted Viscomi but the quote didn't appear.

i totally get enjoying the naked aesthetic, to feel the screen that but protecting the screen is better than an aesthetic scratched/cracked screen. But to each his/her own.
I'm not one to drop my phones. Knock on wood.. I've only dropped my note 3 twice and that could of easily been avoided if I didn't leave it on my lap while driving. With the note7, I don't do anything stupid. I wouldn't mind a scratch that you can only see in bright lighting and at a specific angle. That's not really a scratch to me. Even So, I dont even have that. Not on my note 3, previous note7 or current note7.

Ixir film screen protector on Amazon is the best I've tried. Gone through about 10 so far and this one has 0 drag. Feels like the screen is naked.

I couldn't agree more!

Recommend the Samsung screen protector. Fits easily & works well, at least with s-view case, Spigen wallet or pdair leather holster.

I've had my phone since August 19th with no screen protector on it and It's in and out of my back pocket all day every day with zero scratches or blemishes. YMMV
Same here (but with a two-week hiatus with an interim phone during the recall). I've never used a case or screen protector on any of my Note phones, and I've never scratched or cracked one despite heavy use.

Do I "need" one? No. Does someone else "need" one? Maybe. If you are going to be that worried about scratches or dropping your phone and can put up with all the negatives then go for it. I won't be putting one on my replacement Note 7. Tried a few, that were recommended here in this forum, on my original Note 7 and will not be doing it again. I'll enjoy my phone much more without one.

Agree - if you think you're going to worry about it, then you should get one. If not, then don't bother. It's just going to bug you every time you handle the phone. People either swear by it or against it so I think these questions will never yield a final answer. I would say one thing - no one will use the phone like you do, so I wouldn't look to deeply into comparing comments about how much they use their phone with how you are going to use it.
