Just wondering if any of you who have the tab already have been using a particular case or screen protector. Mine will arrive in 2 days and I am curious what is working for people.
Was looking at the ArmorSuit Military shield.
Any other thoughts?

Belkin

I just got the Belkin Ultrathin Folio Stand case for my 10.1 and it's cool because it's thin and it allows you to prop up the pad like on a stand at different angles.

Also picked up the UltraThin from Belkin. I do agree it's nice.. The placement of the elastic strap is a bit odd, but not "bad".

I found the Tab at Fry's, but they were already out of their covers.. Found the Belkin one and the keyboard dock at BB and picked those up there. The keyboard is nice, and definitely adds a bit of "netbook" to the tab for when sitting on the couch/etc. Still getting used to using the screen as the navigation touchpad (arrow keys work, but aren't always going where I expect them to). I almost picked up the Transformer for this reason.. Glad I waited, and glad Samsung released their own official keyboard dock so that there are less compatibility issues.

First time I plugged it in, all I got was a clock screen.. I guess the TAB thought that I was connected to just a charging station (would not be sure about having this huge screen as my night-stand/alarm clock. But, a quick reboot of the tab allowed it to see the keyboard as a keyboard and everything's been working fine since then.

Sorry that I hijacked the thread about cases to talk about keyboard..

Don't get the Zagg screen protector that Best buy sells.. it's ass. It's like a sheet of rubber.

I bought the multi angle roo case, Can't really comment on it yet as I won't have it till Thursday or so.

This is the case I bought. Amazon.com: rooCASE Multi-Angle (Black) Leather Folio Case Cover for Samsung GALAXY Tab 10.1 Wi-Fi / 3G 4G LTE: Electronics
Does BB sell any other screen protectors? The only reason I'm asking is because if/when I buy my tab, I want them to install it. I'm terrible at it.

I wouldn't bother with a screen shield. They look like crap, are harder to slide your finger on, and are hard to put on. The Tan's screen is Gorilla Glass anyway.

True, but I've always been a screen protector guy. It just can't be naked. Can't.

At the moment they only have the Zagg. I really can't stand screen protectors myself but after spending 30 minutes scrubbing fingerprints off my Xoom every night I swore I'd use one on the 10.1. I might give the steinhell a crack when it comes out but even then I doubt I'll try one out again. I might get that screen wax stuff that basically makes it fingerprint resistant for a month or two at a time. It's like 20 bucks and a tube lasts like 100 applications

Also... I'm a little pissed because I paid the extra $15 to have Best Buy install the Zagg (since I suck at it) and there were 3 huge grains of dirt or dust or something that annoyed the **** out of me.. as well as one of the corners not put down fully that bunched up.

Only $8 install here in Houston

I'm still looking into getting a screen protector because, there has yet to be any proof that the 10.1 has gorilla glass. All video and confirmation has been for the 10.1v

I don't know if the screen is oleophobic, but I really haven't had any big fingerprint issues. And the thing is, screen protectors get them too. Your experience is one I've shared with those things, which is why I gave up on them. And you're lucky if you get one that doesn't have lines within the film from the factory, which give you beautiful rainbows :)

I bought the Belkin this case. Its okay but Im disappointed at how much thicker it makes the tablet... It definitely looses the wonderful thinness of it. The one Samsung makes looks much thinner but also doesn't look like it will protect as much if dropped. Im definitely gonna get it though and compare once Best Buy has it.

Also with the Belkin one, you have to open the case to charge it. Its tough to get out of the case too. Guess thats good and bad though. I want to take it in and out a lot. One more complain on it.. For some reason, there is a cut out of the edge material on one side. its right where the flap is sown on. It looks like over time, its going to get loose and/or cause the stitching to come undone. But its annoying because the cut out is completely unnecessary and the other side doesn't have it...

Hey TripSixes, how does the keyboard accessory travel? The tab doesn't attach to it or anything does it? And does it seem like it needs a cover? Like would the keys pop off or anything?

I thought they were supposed to do a good job? Hmmmm.

I'm not rough on my screens or anything, but I just feel better knowing it's protected just in case.

My tab doesnt get here till Tuesday from Amazon, but I already have 2 cases waiting and a screen protector.

Case wise I have the Belkin Slim Folio and the Belkin Verve Folio case from Best Buy and I am gonna return which ever one I like the least.

As far as screen protector goes, I did all the research I could on what is currently available for the 10.1 Tab and finally decided to go with the XO screen protector. Its made from similar stuff to the crappy Zagg that Best Buy carries, but it is supposed to be smooth, not sticky, and not have the orange peel affect that the Zagg's do. I will try to post a review once I put it on my tab.

I like the Zagg Screen protectors, but I work in excavation and my stuff gets real dirty, plus Zagg is really good with registering their product and replacing the screen and/or the device

I thought I could pull a fast one on them when a 1.5 inch rock nailed my evo and busted the screen, brought it BB and Zagg replaced my entire EVO!!! (serious, not lying or being paid by Zagg)

I got the Zagg on my 10.1 and yeah I feel it, but the worry about scratches ruining my device is gone

I don't know where you live but near me (Denver) there is a Zagg store and a kiosk at a couple of local malls. If go to the Zagg store they don't charge for installation and you can do a warranty replacement at the store...they'll just rip off the old one and put a new one on perfectly and for free.

I got mine on Saturday and was disappointed at how expensive the cases were. Plus, I'm not sold on latching a bulky case into such a thin sexy device. So I decided on a sleeve. That way it gets protection but while I'm using it, it's in its intended form.

That being said...the sleeves that were available suck. They provide some protection from scratching but offer no stability and protection from any impact.

So I went the redneck approach and (sort of) made my own. Target sells an 11" neoprene netbook sleeve for $12. They also sell project board (it's sort of like poster board but has a styrophome inside). So I bought these, cut two pieces of the project board down to the size of the sleeve and spaced them apart from each other with a couple shim pieces I cut (also using the project board) and glued it all together. Then I just slid that assembly into the sleeve and I had a $14 sleeve that offers scratch and impact protection. It could probably be improved by using something like weather stripping instead of the shims.

The first image is the sleeve I bought. The second is the 'frame' I built out of the project board. The third is everything together with the tab inside it...notice the snug fit!

Sorry about the blurry cam but it looks good enough to get the idea.
