Saw a demo unit @ Best Buy today. (My closest Verizon store said they didn't have a demo). It's actually smaller than I thought - not much bigger than my Eris. I actually like the minimalist design characteristics, but was very disappointed with the screen size. I was so disappointed, I pre-ordered one and will pick it up Thursday morning @ 10AM MDT.

How can you be disappointed in the screen size? The Droid has been out forever, and it has the same size screen, so seeing the Incredible for the first time shouldn't have been a surprise for you. If you want huge, switch to Sprint and wait for the Evo.

I know enough to know that I don't know very much, and am a huge noob........ I guess I thought it would be more like the iphone size. Actually, I thought that the Motorola Droid was more iphone size. I thought it would be wider. It's longer than my Eris, but just as wide. It's just not what I thought it would be. I also thought that this is what this thread was for - to voice OPINIONS

It's bigger than the iPhone screen, 3.7" vs 3.5"

it's 3.7 long, not as wide, though, right? Didn't mean to start such a rowe. Just thought it would be bigger. No reason for me to have thought that, but I've always subscribed to the notion "Don't confuse me with facts". As I said originally, I am picking it up @ 10AM sharp tomorrow............

Got mine yesterday. I'm a first time SmartPhone user, so I can't do any comparitive analysis. But so far, I love this thing. VERY intuitive. SUPER clear screen, and fast!

screens are measured in a diagonal manner, so the diagonal is 3.7" vs 3.5"

I disagree. As cbanning alluded to, 3.7" does not tell the whole story. If you put an N1 next to a DROID and pull up a forum such as this, it's painfully obvious how narrow the DROID's 3.7" screen really is.

IMO, the angle of the measurement, therefore affecting the overall width of the screen's more important than 2 inches here or there. For example, the iPhone has more room for my eyes when reading in portrait(compared to theDROID). I've mentioned this on a few sites now, but it always gets glossed over. If any of you have an N1 or DROID and the Incredible, I'd love to hear some actual viewable screen width numbers.

Thanks!

True, the incredible has a 5:3 (30.9 degree angle) aspect ratio and the iphone has a 3:2 (33.7 degree angle) ratio, but the incredible should fit more on screen since it has a higher resolution

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the reason for what you stated is because the iphone has a higher resolution than the droid. With higher resolutions, you'll be able to see more of the screen.

correct me if i am wrong but the incredible has a much higher screen resolution than the iphone

at first the Incredible screen looks very narrow.. I had purchased my hard silicone case prior to receiving the incredible and thought "hrm thought it would be wider".. but after using the phone.. when it's on.. it seems very wide. also since the resolution is much higher than the iphone.. when you're zoomed in or zoomed out.. things are easier to read and more sharp looking.

i have a storm 1 (incredible being delivered today), my co worker has the moto droid. the droid's screen is both wider and longer than the storm's. so if the incredible's screen dimensions are the same, then there are no issues. it has a bigger screen with a far higher resolution.

The iPhone does not have a higher resolution than the Droid.

I was wrong - sort of..
