Screen timeout reverts back to 15 secs

My screen timeout keeps reverting back to 15 secs after selecting another limit. It doesn't do it immediately, but usually within a few minutes of selecting a new time limit. The screen also goes off while looking at it even though "smart stay" is on. What an I missing?

I agree, check power saving mode, by default it's set at 30 seconds

I wouldn't. It caused all sorts of havoc for me, including kicking me into medium power saving mode.

I asked because I thought maybe something like that happened to you.

I had the exact same issue with the adaptive power saving, kept forcing my phone into Medium power saving mode even at >70% battery.
Shame, but it's too aggressive.

I just started having the same problem this last week. I reset the timeout to 2 minutes. When I open the phone again, the timeout has reset to 8 sec. I haven't loaded any new apps for months. I have the battery set to optimized and no for adaptive power saving.

Any thoughts would be appreciated. 8 seconds is not very long and extremely annoying.

Finally tried restarting the phone. Its been about an hour now and the timeout is staying at 2 minutes. Not sure what happened, but the restart seems have fixed it.

Spoke too soon. Its back to 8 second timeout. I can barely keep it open to do anything that takes more that 8 seconds.

Might be some app incompatible.
Any apps carried over from old system that may not be compatible?

I had the same issue on my Nokia 7.1 running Android 10. I had been having this issue for a long time and just now found that it is tied to an app called Intelliscreen that I installed on my phone. Intelliscreen has a default timeout setting that was overwriting the setting in the OS. Passing this along in the hopes it will help someone else. Thanks to Gayle Lynn for the suggestion, I had forgot about installing that app.
