Screen Turning On When Receiving Texts

So I don't remember what setting I moved yesterday that it makes my phone screen turn on every time I receive a text message. Can anybody guide me through the steps to turn that function off please? I prefer the led light on. And I don't want 3rd party apps just stock.

Go to your messaging app, menu, settings, more tab, uncheck screen on.

You still got the 4.2.2 android on it? Cause I got 4.3 and that option isn't there

Just making sure, the settings I provided were from the stock messaging app, not from any third party texting app.

stock msg app on t-mobile. screen on isn't an option on mine either. I thought I'd be pissed about it, but the battery last so long, It dont bother me

True man I went from DROID Maxx Verizon To T-Mobile Note 3 and the battery last way more on note3 than on the maxx bro
