Screen Turns Off During Calls

Same. S10+
He likes speaker and it's going off he says. I double checked and nothing was blocking sensor yesterday. I have screen time out set to 5 minutes and turned smart stay on. He called me yesterday and said it still went off.

Over two years without updates.

NEW: Full Android 5, 6 & 7 support!

Last update April 2017

Yes, but that doesn't necessarily mean it won't work. I still use Ringdroid occasionally to create a custom ringtone, and that was last updated in 2016.

Ok. That means you trust the Dev and nothing has changed with Android 8/9 that it relies on. Though that seems unlikely. And that they gave up on further support.

I agree that it's good to be aware that the app has probably been abandoned by the developer, but then again, I wonder what's the risk? That someone might take advantage of a security hole in that app? For apps that haven't been updated in a long time (and possibly abandoned by the developer), I'm not sure what kinds of risks there might be. Old security flaws in the OS would most likely have been patched by now, and a developer who was trying to exploit the phones that the app was installed on would probably be updating the app to make sure people kept installing it. There might paradoxically be more risk for apps from small-time developers that were taken over by a bigger developer that provides more updates -- the shining example of this would be QuickPic (taken over by Cheatah I mean Cheetah Mobile).

Also, looking at recent reviews can be helpful (assuming they're real). The latest one does say it doesn't work on the Note10, so it may very well not work on the S10 either. But still worth a try, if it's important to the OP.

Read my post, if you do what I say the screen will dim (not to black)

I tried this and it doesn't help. I'm using the phone with a bluetooth headset and the screen turns off every time. Turning off Double Tap to Wake doesn't help, adjusting the display timeout doesn't help, turning on Smart Stay and staring at the phone and blinking doesn't help... nothing. It dims and then turns off completely. I know nothing is blocking my proximity sensor because this only happens while on phone calls. If the phone app is in the foreground it turns off within a minute, but if I switch to another app or the launcher, it stays on until the screen timeout is reached. The only way to keep the screen on if the phone app is in the foreground is to keep tapping the screen. Very annoying.

Hi, I have the annoying problem of S10 phone screen dimming, then going off after about 40 secs of a call on speakerphone. Pressing power button brings screen back on for about 20 - 30 secs. I have smartstay switched on. I found that if I changed power settings from Optimised to High Performance, then phone screen stays on for 2 to 4 mins and does not dim - not ideal, but an improvement. Try and see if it helps?

@MikeSk,

Since the screen is one of the, if not the, largest power users in the phone, Optimized will turn the screen off faster. That's why you set it to Optimized - to save battery. You can't save battery and use a power hog like the screen at the same time.
