Screen turns on with every new message

I've recently made the swap from my old HTC Sensation to an LG G2 on EE, and while I'm loving the handset (and the fact that I'm using a recent model phone again) one of the little gripes I've got is with the fact that it seems insistent on turning on the screen (and when the keypad lock isn't on activating the homescreen) with every text I receive. I've yet to find a setting to change this, and a quick Google search has turned up nothing either. If it makes a difference I'm using Go SMS as my messaging client, but the problem was there before I installed it.

Don't suppose anybody happens to know a way to stop this from happening? Ideally all I'd get for any notification was the vibration, LED flash and notification sound, and turning the screen on would be up to me.

Cheers in advance. =]

Is 'Preview' and/or New Message Pop-Up' set on in the Messaging app settings? That's all I can think of offhand, my screen does not turn on when I get new text messages; and I have those settings off. Most 3rd party SMS apps "piggyback" on the stock message app, so that might be something there as far as GoSMS is concerned.

Tried turning off all notification settings in the default Messaging app, didn't seem to make any difference. Don't believe it's in the Go SMS settings either, as they're set to the same as my old phone (which didn't light up with every message), but I'll have a look just in case. =]

edit; Ignore me. Apparently my old phone was running an older version of Go SMS, and the G2 a newer version, which has turning the screen on as an option. Feel a bit of a berk now, haha. Thanks for the reply anyway though. =]
