Hello :)

I bought my note 3 few days ago and I set the password in lock screen options. But now, when I try to change the way of unlocking screen it's just impossible. It is only allowed to protect my phone with password, swipe and pin unlocking is locked and it's painted with grey color. Please help :)

You got me on this one!😨
Maybe if you could give us more information.
Where did the Grey screen come from?

Are you trying to get out of password mode but cannot, or cannot select swipe or pin unlocking as they are greyed out. Does it ask you to re-enter password before changing but it won't accept. I could only enter the password by hitting the keyboard enter key.

I mean that letters of the text is grey :) For example when i want to choose swipe type of unlocking screen, letters of these options like swipe, signature, pattern, pin, none are grey, only password is white painted and i can only select password :)

And below Swipe it's written : Disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage. I saw on the Internet that most people solve this problem clearing credentials in security options, but on my phone this option is also written with grey letters and i can't choose this option.

I hope that I explained my problem better now. :)

When I open my locking screen settings and i choose to change screen security option and when I enter password phone asks me to change type of locking screen but still other types of locking are grey except password option. :)

Thanks.
It sounds like you have a corporate locked device, but I'm only guessing.

I will leave this to someone more knowledgeable. :) -------------------

Hmm, i don't know. But when i bought my phone and for the first time when I try to set protect on my phone, all these options were allowed to select, but when i set the password and when i try later to change type of locking screen all of these options were blocked except password option. :)

I was able to change lock settings back from password mode, so there must be another explanation.

Also - Welcome to Android Central!

A good starting point would be to say Hi in Introductions - under Android Central Community. Some excellent Ambassadors respond quickly there, and may have a solution if it is not covered here.

Clear your credentials under the security settings and check to see if you have any apps checked under device administrators.

Edit: I saw later that you said clear credentials was already grey, so check the device admins. And even though the clear option is greyed out, check whether you have anything listed under the User tab of Trusted Credentials.

I'm trying to follow what everyone is suggesting and working with my lock screen and like Madd suggested seems like someone has locked you out of your options.
Where did you get your new phone??
Maybe we should start there!😕

This usually happens when an app is installed that requires pin or passcode security. Then it is enabled as admin and/or installs security credientials that prevent changing from a pin or passcode. So to fix it, you need to remove it as admin and clear the credentials. The credentials may still be there even if clear credentials is grey, especially if the app was uninstalled without doing these steps properly.

I fix it :D When i got my phone I wanted to try every option :D So somehow I choose Encrypt external SD card option and I see now that this option make some problems with locker screen settings :D Thank you all for your help. You are the best :)

I found that adding an exchange account for work emails requires me to have PIN protection or better. A bit annoying.

I would agree if I had to have it. It's logical security wise but it should be up to the individuals circumstances and choice.
I work alone on the road, and live in a quiet house and don't want a pin or password every time I pick up the phone.
I have just changed from swipe lock to None and its great. I have a nice cheap flipover case, and lock and open with a button.
Coincidentally getting great battery life now with a factory reset, removing an sd card and uninstalling Lookout. Having no lock might also help a little.

Hi ,
Actually my problem is quite different. My problem is that when I go in security and click on screen lock it requires my pin which I type and then the none option is greyed out.
Device: Ainol NOVO 9 spark.

Some suggestions please

Welcome to AC fron me.

You have correctly also posted this in Introductions, and in Get Help...

Well done for finding those!
Our best ambassadors and moderators are waiting for more information so they can help you further.

Samsung lock screen menu's I would imagine are very different to other brands.

Just an update, I now run Exchange email through an app called "Cloudmagic" which is a nice email client. Now I can have a screen lock of my choice.
