Screen wake up on message/ email recieved

Is there a setting which will turn the screen on when a message or other notification is received? I find only a LED notification a bit lacking, I often miss the accompanying vibration when its on my desk at work.

From what i recall - No.
However i believe some of the 3rd party messaging apps you can have the screen wake-up when a message is received.

I use an app called NILS to wake screen up and also show the notification on the lock screen every time a new notification cones in. One of the first apps I install whenever I get a new phone or a factory reset as find it really useful to have the screen wake when its lying on my desk as I see it out the corner of my eye

What's NILS, Is that abbreviated ? I use sms wake up but need something for email Twitter etc

Testing it out. So far so good! Finally one that works the way it should. I've tried others but they never worked well. Is it worth the premium for 2 bucks?

Not sure what the premium gets you as I paid for it a long long time ago. I think the developer is worth supporting though as the app has grown enormously and like u say is one of the few of this type that actually work

Thank you! Switching from iPhone and that was the only thing I couldn't figure how to configure. Really like to be able to just glance at the screen when an email comes in to see if it's something I need to deal with (usually not). One of those things that is just built-in on one platform but needs a special app to do on another. I wasn't expecting that.
