Screenshot is not working

I bought a new Samsung M12 with android 11, last update on june 01 2021. I'm not able to take screenshots.
- Pressing power and volume down together shows turn-off screen after a second.
- Palm swipe option is missing in Advanced features / Motions and gestures.
- In Accessibility / Interaction and dexterity / Assistant menu settings screenshot icon is set with '+' sign but when tried to use on an app screen it is not shown (other options are shown).
Probably it is completely disabled by a setup that I couldn't see. Is there a way to enable it ?
 
Quite often, on various phones, when I try to screenshot, other things happen, including, sometimes, nothing. This is true of Androids, iPhones and Windows Phones.

What about edge panel or hey Google take a screenshot with assistant?
 
Does this happen all the time or only in specific apps?

Typically banking apps don't allow screenshots.

MyChart, an app that I use to manage my medical services with all my doctors, does not allow screenshots.

Certain apps do not allow screenshots due to copyright, such as Hoopla, a library ebook app that I use to read ebooks borrowed from my local library.

- B. Diddy, I tried to press side buttons together hundred times (I had experience from previous phone), no success. Sure it is not working this way. I installed Screen Master, I will try Bixby also. But I certainly will prefer built-in facility if there is.
- belodion, you are correct, making very different kinds of usages in different devices. But as written everywhere Samsung has to has this facility.
- mustang7757, I enabled edge panel, selected screen operations tab, it worked. It is not straighforward of course, needs several operations to take a shot, but I think it is a hint showing this phone should take one key screenshot some way.
- Laura Knotek, this is a general behaviour, not dedicated for a single app.

What about hey Google or bixby take a screenshot?
 
mustang7757, I tried it, saw a bunch of options, among them may be I missed screenshot. Now I discovered that when an app is active, pressing mid button long is popping up a menu containing screenshot option (I'm sure it wasn't there previously, may be because I tried 'take screenshot' by hey Google, or after enabling edge menu it started to appear there), it is working well, a few more keystrokes are required but satisfactory enough. It is working differently at main screen, means it has app specific settings. Thank you.

While it is odd that using the physical buttons doesn't work I'm wondering if there could be something that is blocking screenshots. I was thinking that it sounded like you may have been pressing the buttons too long when you mentioned that options to restart the phone appeared because it should be a quick short press of the buttons, but you stated that you have experience so that shouldn't be the issue. It is odder still that roundabout ways work, which in a way strengthens my feeling that it may be an app causing this issue but I'm not sure if screenshot works in Safe Mode. That would or should count out a bad app blocking it somehow.

Are you using a downloaded launcher? Some launchers change the behavior of a device and that may account for the physical button issue as well as some of the other methods failing.
