Android Central Question

As of about 1 week ago, when I receive a text message (in stick Messages), it get no sound notification.
I've checked every setting I can think of.
I found a few other articles that state the following:
1.From a Home screen, touch and swipe up to display all apps.
2.Tap Messages.
3.Tap the Menu icon on the upper right then tap on Settings.
4.Tap notifications.
5.Tap the notification switch and make sure that it is on.
6.Tap Advanced.
7.Tap Sound and select an option then tap on save.
8.Tap vibrate to turn on if you want your phone to vibrate.
8.Tap the show notification dot to turn it on.
9.Tap override do not disturb to turn it on.

The problem is when I get to #6, there is no Sound setting under "Advanced".
All I see is "Allow notification dot" and "Additional settings in the app", which just brings me back the Messages (it's a loop)

Welcome to Android Central! What about this:

1. Go to your system settings, then Apps & Notifications.

2. Tap "See all [n] apps."

3. Select Messages, then Notifications.

4. Now tap on the words "Incoming messages" (NOT the toggle switch).

5. First, make sure it's not set to Silent there.

6. Tap Advanced, then Sound, and select a new tone there.

Do you see all of that?

Nice! That was it.
I could swear I'd looked there, as I'd read many time (elsewhere) to tap the words, and not the toggle switch.
However, there are so many links to Notification Sounds, maybe I never played with that one. I guess I stared at it all too long.

Thanks much. I was getting ready to perform a hard reset, which obviously wouldn't have been ideal.
