SD Card displays less space used than actually has

I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 Active SGH-I537. I let it format my Samsung Class 10 SDHC 64 GB card. It used exFAT format. I then transfered my MP3 collection to it, which is about 34 GB. When I finished, I noticed that I had only 15.4 GB left, so it used up 47 GB! If I check the folders' properties it only displays 7 GB. It doesn't add up.



I am guessing the size allocation might be set to big. Can I format it with a different size allocation on my Windows 7 PC and have it still be compatible with my android phone and regain some more space?

I am confused. You gave a screenshot for the DCIM properties, which is usually images.

Agreed--how much is in the Music folder?

Are you sure you only transferred the music? If you're showing the DCIM folder you might have also transferred copies of the images

I also wonder how much might be taken up by album art, especially if it's custom art, perhaps with high resolution.

The DCIM folder is empty as are the other folders except Music. If you notice the Properties screenshot is says "All in H:\"

Is the file and folder count correct? Is that the number of music tracks and albums that you moved?

There is no longer an option to format an SD card into FAT32 using Windows 7--however, there are 3rd party programs that can do it. Here's one that was mentioned in another forum: Ridgecrop Consultants Ltd.

EDIT: UJ95x just let me know that you can format into FAT32 for SD cards 32 GB and less on Win7. Thanks UJ95x!
