not sure what happened or why, but I've had my atrix since mid march, never rooted, stock os (GB) and just all of a sudden i'm getting a sd card damaged error. I just happened to be out, wasn't taking any pics, just tried to show a couple of friends a pic from Alaska I had taken on there, and saw then that it couldn't read it. Here is what I've tried so far:
Plugged atrix into a laptop and desktop and neither could read it,
put sd card into card reader on desktop and couldn't read it.
Settings -> Storage -> Mount SD Card and get the error..
outside of trying to root and fsck the mount/card, my guess is all is lost..but before i make the final decision I thought I'd throw it out and ask if anyone else had any ideas.
Thanks

Jim

Jim,

I had the same problem happen to me. Strange things started to happen a day or two before the Gingerbread roll out. I use the BT audio with my car and it would stop playing songs. It would also hang at shutting down.

After the GB update, it was not reading the card at all. So I took it out and put it into my PC. It read it just fine, so I backed up everything on it. Once I placed it back into the phone, everything was working fine. A week later, it completely died.

Just like yours, I couldn't read it in a PC or even format it. Also putting it in my work Blackberry wouldn't read it either.

I now have an RMA with Patriot to get a new one. FYI - Mine is a Patriot 16GB Class 10 card. Just bought it in March.

Mine is a 16GB PNY card, I just took it out and tried again in pc and nothing, put in older 2GB sd and it showed right up and was able to mount it. I might give it the rest of the day, but i haven't found anyway to read/recover/salvage anything off of the 16G card, might not have any choice by to try to format, was hoping for some kind of miracle where it would work just once so I could copy everything off before formatting it..but..that's the way it goes. thanks for the info

Jim

I have seen several places where manufactures recommend running a low level format on the cards. They recommend using the formatter from the SDCard association.

I was having issues w/ my Atrix seeing my 16GB Class 6 card. I ran the formatter and it works great now.
