SD card/gallery issues

So, my photos/videos keep disappearing from the gallery, the ones stored on sd card. The number is getting lower. I've tried opening a folder on gallery and it started disappearing immediately. When I go to settings - storage, the first number, how much space is available, how much is used, that is correct, however, the graph and the numbers below, don't match up (and I'm noticing now it keeps getting lower). The graph shows lower numbers of gb than they should be. However, when I open file explorer, I'm able to see the correct numbers of files in folders, meaning, they aren't actually gone, but for some reason, they don't show up in storage and in gallery (and the ones showing up keep disappearing). I've used that sd card for half a year maybe, with this phone. Mount/unmount doesn't help either. What could be wrong? Never had an issue like this before. The phone is Huawei P Smart 2019.

Hi there
Have you tried putting the card into a pc and backing up your files and folders to the pc? Then format the memory card in the phone and replace the files and folders back onto the card. Then see if they can be detected.

I still have to try that. I've connected sd card to the computer and I'm missing even more files. Camera photos went down from 10k to 1000. I was able to see way more than that before connecting the card to the computer. Now when I put it back to my phone, same, these files aren't even seen, it's like they're all just vanished. I know they're not hidden, I haven't deleted them myself. I guess there's no way to fix this without losing my files?

Welcome to Android Central! Sounds like a counterfeit card that's actually much smaller in size than it claims to be. Test it using the programs mentioned here: How to Spot a Fake MicroSD Card and Avoid Being Scammed

I've bought it in one of the biggest electronics stores in a country, in a physical store, I don't think a store like that could sell a fake? I've been using it since summer with no problems with 90gb data on it on 128gb sd card. But now it's been a few days since it started to acting up and many of my files are gone. Specifically photos/videos, everything else seems to be as it was. I've scanned phone for possible viruses as well, but nothing came up.

Still worth checking the integrity of the card, just in case. You can also run chkdsk on your computer to see if there are any bad sectors: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...guide-using-chkdsk-fix-corrupted-sd-card.html

Check at Google Photos to see if your pictures are still there. (If they are, you can always download what you need.)

Thank you. I've run chkdsk and after that I've noticed found.000 folder on my sd card. I assume files in the folder are the corrupted ones? Judging from the size of it, it could easily be these missing camera files. Unfortunately I don't have a backup for these, but luckily other photos and files are backed up just in case.

What do the files in that found.000 folder look like? Can you try renaming one by adding ".jpg" to the end and see if they convert back to a viewable image?

They're chk files, simply changing it to jpg doesn't work.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure what you can do about those files, then.:-\ Did you run the other tests to double-check that the card is not fake, just in case?
